4. Cast iron mold
Suitable for mass casting production, it has the advantages of high strength, high hardness, good processability, low cost, and long service life. In recent years, due to the improvement of the casting level, more and more shapes, mold bottom plates, and formwork frames have been made of ductile iron or high-strength alloy gray cast iron with higher strength and wear resistance, and the thermal fatigue resistance is better. Good compacted graphite iron is also used for hot box material.
5. Steel
In the past, sand casting molds were mainly used to make standard parts and structural parts, and less used to make casting mold bodies, because the service life of carbon steel is not higher than that of ductile iron or low alloy gray cast iron, and alloy steel is very expensive.
